CF, 1839 reprint, 142 pgs. 1839 Soft Cover NEW
The work brings before us, in a simple but attractive fashion, contemporary accounts of Revival in times as far apart as 1623 and 1839, the year in which it was first published. The stories take us to Wales and across the sea to Ireland, and show u s God at work among different people and in different circumstances. No effort is made to link the narratives, but none is required. The awakenings span time and place, linking spiritual realities, with their variations in detail, into the work of the one Spirit & the effects of the same truths ---the truths of God's Work. Yet, the variety of style and the complete lack of striving for effect makes the work in its movement easy & pleasant to read. For the christian reader, the events recou nted make a gripping & moving story. It tells of the men, the circumstances, the churches, the communities on whom the Spirit of God came down in sudden, and sometimes unexpected, seasons of spiritual power. The stories have their individual featu res and, naturally enough, emphases differ in the hands of different authors, but all convey the same cheerful - often cautious - accounts of the work and the results it left behind in the lives of multitudes of ordinary people.
