1 Adams, Thomas CRUCIFIX, A ----Or a Sermon Upon the Passion
G. M. 30 Pgs. (first Pub. In 1630), 1962 1962 Paperback Good
Paperback. Good. Thomas Adams, a Puritan, published "THE WORKS" in 1630. After numerous lesser editions it contained sixty-three sermons in one folio volume of 1240 pages. The following A CRUCIFIX or a Sermon on the Divine Passion is but one of these. Here Adams takes as his text a portion of Ephesians 5:2. The first part of the verse appears in"THE WORKS" as another sermon. This is presented, not for its historical interest but for the clarity and vitality of its message. In our age we might benefit by spending an hour with a seventeenth century prophet. His biographer states: "Life is the grand distinction of his writings."

TBM; 18 PGS Paperback (stapled) Like New
Paperback (stapled). Like New. We all understand that the altar in the Old Testament is always a type of the Cross. This altar is the place of the whole burnt offering, and this corresponds to Hebrews, Chapter 10 where the Lord Jesus is likened to the whole burnt offering. So this little book is focused on the centrality and the universality of the Cross.

RCB 1953 Hardback; 178 Pgs. Sketches Good; Used; Underlining Good
The Gospels reveal only the barest essentials about the physical sufferings of Our Lord. But in this mind-opening book, Dr. Pierre Barbet relies heavily on his close analysis of the Holy Shroud of Turin to recreate every stage of the Passion with heart-rending precision and detail. The result: a minor classic of spirituality by a modern layman. For Lenton, meditation, this volume is unsurpassed.

All efforts to excuse, defend, protect, vindicate, or save self is, in effect, a coming down from the cross. Self-pity is coming down from the cross. Submitting to resentment is a coming down from the cross. Self-vindication is a coming down from the cross. Refusing to accept blame and placing it upon others is coming down from the cross. Self-justification means that we have come down from the cross. The Solution: "The CROSS"

The central truth of "the doctrine of Christ" is that Christ was crucified. "According to the Scriptures", the death He died was by crucifixion, and Paul pin-points the central truth of the gospel when he says to the Corinthians "For I determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Chris, and Him crucified" (I Cor. 2:2). There is a gospel today, however, which preaches Christ, and which preaches the death of Christ, but which in purpose and effect does not preach the cross of Christ--not Christ Crucified.

13 Chadwick, Samuel GOSPEL OF THE CROSS [LARGE PRINT] $12.99 SALE $7.99
RCB Softcover NEW
17 CHAPTERS."The cross stands between two worlds. It marks the dividing line between the kingdoms of this world and the Kingdom of Heaven. They are essentially different, and mutually exclusive. To belong to either shuts out from the other. Those who are of the world are alien to the spiritual kingdom, and those who are of the spiritual kingdom are crucified to the world. ďIf any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." The emblem of the world is a goblet; the sign of the kingdom of God is a cross. The principle of the world-kingdom is self-gratification, and its realm is the flesh; the principle of the Heavenly Kingdom is self-crucifixion, and its realm is the Spirit. The cross divides. On one side is the world, and on the other is the Kingdom of God. All on the heavenly side bear the sign of the cross, and have passed through an experience by which they have been crucified unto the world and the world crucified unto them. None but cross-bearers are of the Kingdom of heaven. It is the seal of citizenship, and the badge of Christian discipleship...It is of the world-system and the world-spirit that the New Testament speaks in condemnation. The world of nature is good, the world system and the world-people are evil... It is ďthe present evil worldĒ of which Satan is Prince, and in which Christ is crucified... The world in which Satan is prince, ruler, god, is the world from which Christís disciples are to be separate, and to keep themselves unspotted. It is the world-system, dominated by the world-spirit... To be its friend is to be the enemy of God... To escape it, there must be the death of the cross, a crucifixion to the world, and a crucifixion of the world."

15 Chadwick, Samuel WAY TO PENTECOST $8.99 SALE $7.99
CLC Softcover NEW
If the Church of today is to meet the challenge before it, there must be a return to the Power of Pentecost. There has never been a time when the Church had a greater opportunity, greater potential, greater facilities, than it has today. Yet the challenge is not being met. The reason is simple. As you will see repeated in this book, "You cannot do God's work with human resources". This is what has been going on. Multitudes are attending churches across America who feel secure in their profession, but have never had a real life-changing encounter with God. Only the Holy Spirit is capable of awakening them out of their sleep & bringing them face to face with their sin & carnality, & showing them the remedy.

Many people are following an easy-going "Christianity." They seem to know little of discipleship. Their religion is a thing of pleasant ~motional quivers, divorced from the real, divorced from the intellect, and demanding little except lip-service to a few harmless platitudes. I suspect that Satan has called off the attempt to convert people to agnosticism. Find out if you are "Taking Your Cross and Following the Lord"!

Eerdmans, 1963, 253 pgs., HB, DJ, good condition
The theme of the messages in this book is developed with a rich & profound understanding of the many ways in which the glory & power of the cross touch, redeem & complete our lives. Dr. Oliver B. Greene of the Gospel Hour states in his forward: "I hope this Volume will reach the hands of thousands of Christians ---especially young Christians. I believe it is impossible for anyone to read these messages with an open heart, & be the same after reading them. The Cross is the central theme of the Gospel Message; it is the heart & soul of our salvation."

19 Drescher, John M. SPIRIT FRUIT
Herald Press, 1974, 350 pgs., HB, DJ, good Condition 1974 Hard Cover Good
The chapters dealing with the fruit of the Spirit are primarily devotional. Meditations are short with the hope that the reader will carry the book along & read a chapter or two in his spare time. The length of the chapters also lends itself to da ily devotional reading. Two emphases appear throughout the book. The first points out that the fruit is singular because every Christian has the Holy Spirit & demonstrates to one degree or another all the fruit. The fruit is like the petals of a beautiful rose. Every petal is necessary to make up the whole. So each fruit is necessary to make up the Christian life.
