7 Luther, Martin TABLE TALK (Classic)
BL 2004 Paperback; 526 Pgs. NEW
This book is a compendium of excerpts taken from conversations with his students and colleagues, who furiously scribbled notes as he spoke. Reading them, it's easy to imagine all of the sitting around the table, eating and drinking and discussing issues of great concern to reformists. These excerpts are frequently anecdotal, highly opinionated, sometimes sublime, sometimes unsophisticated, occasionally brutal...and always unequivocating.

12 Monk, Maria AWFUL DISCLOSURES OF MARIA MONK $14.95 SALE $8.99
1899861475 / 9781899861477 Soft cover New
Paperback. Like New. It is over a hundred years ago ---in 1835---that Maria Monk, making her way from Canada to New York, startled the world with her 'awful disclosures' of life in a Convent and, since that time, controversy has raged over her story. It was, of course, only to be expected that its publication would immediately be followed by the denials of the people concerned in it. Virulent attacks were made upon the book and every effort was made to destroy public confidence in the character of its author. Maria Monk, however, refused to be shaken in her testimony, and steadfastly avowed the truth of what she had written. To those who doubted or disbelieved her statements she made the following challenge: "Permit me," she said, "to go through the Hotel Dieu Nunnery at Montreal with some impartial ladies and gentlemen, and they may compare my account with the interior parts of the building, into which no other persons but the Roman Bishop and Priests are ever admitted; and if they do not find my description true, then discard me as an imposter. Bring me before a court of justice--there I am willing to meet Latargue, Duiereme, Phelan, Bonin and Richards, and their wicked companions, and the Superior and any of the Nuns before a thousand men." The attacks made upon her veracity, as well as the recollection of what she had undergone, distressed and agitated her, and she threw herself upon the sympathy of the public for being an unwilling participant in the guilty transactions which she described. At the time of penning her manuscript, she had no means of telling what the publication of her disclosures would mean. Before the manuscript was published, she submitted herself to examination by several intelligent, disinterested persons, who satisfied themselves that the allegations she made were true.

13 Sadler, I. A. MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT The Church of Rome and the European Union Exposed to the Light of Truth.
Cromwell Press; 308 Pgs. 2006 Soft cover As New
This book is written as a warning to the Christian churches of the danger of the false religion that originated at Babylon. The true successor to the Mysteries of Babylon is shown to be the Church of Rome; but other strands of the Mysteries, such as the Occult, are also exposed. The author takes the classic Reformed position regarding the papacy and its fulfilment of scripture concerning the "man of sin". Many in this day do not appreciate to what extent error has crept into the professing churches and the nation. The conclusions of the book are very solemn indeed, but the author believes they are most needful at this time. May the reader prayerfully consider the evidence and warnings given. May grace be sought of God to stand fast in the true faith in Jesus Christ.

14 Webster, William CHURCH OF ROME AT THE BAR OF HISTORY, THE
Banner of Truth; 244 Pgs. 1995 Hardback Like New Like New
In all the confusion of the contemporary religious scene, one Church claims to abide changeless in her message and authority. From the first, and through the ages, she claims to stand by one faith. Thus, with Louis XVI, multitudes have seen her as the sure way to paradise: 'I die,' said the French king, "in union with our Holy mother, the Catholic, Apostolic and Roman Church which holds its powers uninterrupted from St. Peter.' 'I believe in what the Catholic Church holds and teaches,' declared the Duchess of Kent on her recent conversion. But, asks William Webster, is this true? And he answers the question not by debating texts of Scripture but by a straight appeal to the very area where the Church of Rome believes her case is strongest, the facts of history. He shows that much which Roman Catholicism now claims as part of her changeless creed was both unknown to the Church Fathers of the early centuries and directly contrary to what they did teach. This very disturbing book is no dry account of minor differences, nor is it a harsh polemic. The author writes with heart-felt interest in the welfare of the men and women who are now in a position which was once his own.
